The success plan
Highpoint implements scientifically researched curriculum proven effective in teaching students with mild learning and language disorders. Additionally, our program implements clinical methods which help improve auditory and visual comprehension, verbal intelligence, memory, processing speed, attention, listening, logic and reasoning and organizational skills.
Our instructional program is based Mastery Learning. We believe that human learning does not take place on a single level, but is a stratified process. Unless a student has mastered a sufficient amount of the knowledge to form a firm enough base on which to build the knowledge of the following year, he/she will not make progress in the next class. This means that there is a sequence that is to be observed in teaching. Certain concepts need to be taught first, before it becomes possible to teach other concepts.

Teachers and Paraprofessionals are Clinically Trained
The effectiveness and success of our program is directly related to our elite team of educators. Our teachers hold degrees in their field and have gone through extensive training in teaching strategies and behavior management. Many of them began as paraprofessionals in our school. Our Teacher Assistants are presently taking courses towards a Bachelors Degree in Special Education. They possess a passion for teaching children with learning differences.
